For most universities students can find previous successful college application essays which are about 500 words in length. With that in mind, we must craft our outline knowing that we do not have infinite space to approach the chosen topic. As counterproductive as this might sound it is recommended that you make use of at least two drafts. The reason for doing so is in the first part one will ignore the word count and write out how they envision the common application essay topic. The following draft will summarize the crucial information as well as the core of the story into what will become the required 500 words college admission essay. Most common application essay examples will suggest that students focus on simple topics such as writing about yourself, family, a fond memory, etc. But it is quite hard to summarize our entire lives in 500 words or less in a college application paper. An excellent way to look at the college application essay format is the best looking slice of your lives cake, which should be intriguingly presented to the examiner. Overall each prestigious academic institution will most likely have its own unique common application essay guidelines to assist their candidates. As the saying goes you have to play the hand you're dealt. What that means for us in this scenario is making use of all the resources around us to produce the best possible college admission essay. Quite often the best place to start when looking for inspiration is by checking if there are any advisors or tutors available in your school. Usually, those individuals can provide the students with brochures or give them a schedule of when university representatives will visit their facilities. However, if those resources seem to be insufficient, then we suggest having a look online at a reliable common application essay example. The most important thing to understand is that you are not alone in this journey of conquering the common application paper. Several people have struggled while preparing their college application essay topics. Truth be told there is no perfect way to tackle the task at hand. The best thing one can do is find the most suitable way to express their potential through the use of the college admission essay. So to help you out with such an endeavor below is a list of fantastic tips and tricks to help get the job done. Tips and Tricks To Writing a College Application Essay If you are the type of student who likes to do it themselves, then this is the bread and butter of the college application paper. Remember to read the instructions carefully before applying these tips to your college application essay: Got a prompt? Analyze it thoroughly. As previously mentioned some universities will give out various prompts for each student to choose from. Try not to overthink the situation and pick the one that you feel most comfortable with. The common application essay prompts can vary from being a sentence, a well-known expression, a hypothetical situation, to something concrete such as the current political events. No matter what topic is chosen for the college application paper, examine the issue using an analytical perspective to help highlight the required skills. Picking a suitable theme is always half the battle, no matter what prestigious institution one would like to attend, as it will determine if they will have a successful college application essay or not. Organize your thoughts The backbone of any successful college application essay is its structure. Without structure, it will be hard to have the common application paper reach its full potential. Make use of a rough draft to synthesize the core concept logically and enticingly. This will help get the common application essay length in check and get the message across clearly while also keeping the reader interested. If the assignment does not have a clear structure, then it will be somewhat difficult for the examiner to follow your thoughts. Doing so could lead to them consider someone else's college application essay over yours as it has a more transparent structure even if the ideas are not as well developed. Show, don’t tell Quite often when undertaking any academic task, we tend to get carried away and elaborate on things which are not so crucial. For example, if you are trying to make use of anecdotes it is essential to keep the ones which are the most relevant since the amount of space is quite limited. The focus is to use the available word count to illustrate one’s self-reflection ability and understanding of various life lessons through analysis. An important thing to keep in mind at all times is: the examiners do not know you personally. Thus making the most of the college application essay can leave them with a good impression after reading hundreds of them. Know the terminology For some particular courses, students are required to be acquainted with specific abbreviations and terminology. Thus, it is vital to make use of these correctly throughout the entire college application essay. An excellent example of such can be individuals applying for an interior art design course but only describe how well they can use a drilling machine. While the use of correct terminology is encouraged one must keep in mind not to overuse it where it does not fit just for the sake of it. Remember it can come across as strange to the examiner due to the various shades of grey which context can impact a sentence. Use appropriate vocabulary This goes beyond making use of the dictionary to find the adequate words to use in a common application paper. What it means is stick to what you know works best in such a scenario. For any writer, it is important to find their inner voice to guide them while writing a college application essay. Without it, one might see trouble in putting the pieces of the puzzle together and allowing the examiner to appreciate it simultaneously. It is not a bad thing to try and use words that give extra color to a phrase, but keep in mind not to force the metaphor into existence at any point in your college application paper. Stick to the point, be succinct As dull as it might sound by this point, you must be aware of the word count limitations in their college application essay. By keeping things succinct yet vivid one can find the perfect balance to give their paper a unique flavor. Most successful college application essays do this well, thus keeping the examiner interested in the piece until the end. Choose a topic that allows you to shine The journey to learning how to write a college application essay begins with finding the perfect topic. While browsing through the web one can see how the most prominent common application essay examples make use of their respective theme uniquely. Some even opt to make it quite interactive as it will stimulate the reader's imagination. Keep in mind that picking a topic that sounds interesting might not be the best approach. Always go for something you can easily relate to and turn into a masterpiece without too much time being devoted to this part of the assignment. Stay focused on the task at hand and do not deviate Wondering how to start a college application essay about yourself is quite difficult to cover because we are given 500 words or less. One of the most encountered issues is focusing down the assignment so that it contains only the most relevant information. This is usually done by revisiting the drafts over and over again. It is a repetitive process which takes a significant amount of time. Nonetheless, this component is a significant part of learning how to write a great college application essay. Be unique, it is ok to be inspired by others but remain true to yourself As we all know there are those topics which have been used one too many times over the years. The best way to think about it is in terms of food. There are numerous reasons why we all enjoy the classics, such as pasta carbonara or a delicious juicy steak. Nonetheless, you can choose to add their own seasoning to their home-cooked meals. Thus, the same can be said about creating successful college application essays. Despite the joy of reading through a classic, after having too many steaks, one does feel a little ill. Overall, we strongly suggest that students seek to add a touch of their personality and soul to each college application essay sample being sent out. The secret to WOW the college admission essay examiner Having understood the tips and tricks which can be used to get the job done, now we will dive into slightly more technical elements which you may choose to incorporate into their college application essay topics to sweeten the deal. Keep in mind that combining all the components highlighted here will significantly increase the effectiveness of your common application paper. So without any more time being wasted let's get cracking shall we: Have a unique opening, consider using witty anecdotes Due to the nature of their job, examiners have most likely read a college application essay sample which is similar to yours. Thus, one way to take away from the monotony of going through another common application paper about someone's family or whatever the case may be, try starting the piece off with a memorable quote from them. It is best to use some of their most famous words such as â€Å"You attitude will always determine your altitude.† Using such an element breaks the ice quickly leading to a connection being created between the author and the examiner right from the start. The application essay format should be tailored around it so that the quote does not feel out of place and does not confuse us. Overall, it is a great way to get started nowadays especially since it gives the college application paper a very personal touch and feel to it. Try evaluating the piece from the examiner's perspective A significant part of writing up successful college application essays comes from being able to assess the work from the examiner's perspective. It is not always the most natural thing to ask of someone, especially in the case of an experienced academic. However, regardless of whether it is a UK college application sample, IB application essay example or a local admission essay they should all look to see it from the examiner’s perspective. The trick to doing so successfully is to do some research on previous samples that the university or college saw as being top notch. Nonetheless, most of these institutions are looking for confident individuals capable of understanding their limitations and holistically analyze any situation. Do not go out of your way just to impress The expression dress to impress is quite suitable here, however, do not overdo it. It is crucial for the college application essay questions to be addressed in an elegant and convincing manner. Despite looking to impress the examiner, it is essential to stay true to yourself. What it means is avoiding trying to look like a person you are not. Even if we are striving for perfection, attempting to come across as that can have much harsher consequences than just being yourself when put to the test. This way the individual has created an environment where they are not overestimated nor underestimated. It is quite similar to a job interview in a lot of ways. Look at successful samples from the past for inspiration As previously mentioned looking for successful college application essay examples it is important to take it all with a grain of salt. Nonetheless, it must be a consideration of what was once satisfactory in the past might now be outdated. A more natural way to grasp such a concept is by creating a comparison to the evolution of technology. For example not so long ago in the early 90’s we used floppy disks as a mean of storage space. The growing need for more space leads to it later evolving to CD’s as they had more storage space. Ultimately now we are using DVD’s or simply storing all our data online. Being fully aware of the world around us is a great way to get inspiration for any college application paper. Visibly everything around us changes with time due to the evolutionary nature of humanity. Thus, it is crucial to keep this in mind when looking at previous college application essay examples since there might be new requirements in place now for your parti cular university. Never pretend to be someone you are not, be an authentic leader One thing which is for sure, universities and colleges alike are tasked with training the next generation of global leaders. Thus, one can safely assume there are some personal traits examiners are looking for. However, leaders are not born they are made. Hence, even if you feel you might fall short in one or more of these categories try to stay positive since there is always room for improvement. Some say the most significant trait of a future leader is not having a fatalistic approach to life’s never-ending challenges. Remember the officials will tend to be more lenient towards an applicant if they have shown real potential in their college application essay sample. Use the given word count to the max The hardest section of any common application paper remains the limited amount of words that you are given to work with. It is indescribably strange to have 500 words to display one's best qualities as well as an idea of what the future holds. Some of the methods used to overcome such a challenge involve revisiting the piece over and over again until you feel it is perfect. The next stage is having family members, friends and even strangers read it and see what they think about it. What you should look for from this experiment is finding out where does the individual come off as being authentic and what one can do to improve on the sections sounding a bit shaky. I need special application essay help since I am applying for studies abroad This section is dedicated entirely to those students planning to study abroad. Here we will cover the academic requirements as well as some common college application essay examples you should be aware of when looking to do so. The main regions we will be looking at are the United Kingdom, Western Europe, and Australia. It is not surprising that each adds a bit of their own flavor to a college application paper, nonetheless, let us discuss the most effective strategies when tackling this challenge. United Kingdom We all have a lot of common application essay questions when it comes to discussing this topic since it is not as popular to go and study abroad here in the US. Such an occurrence is due to the variety and number of local academic institutions that always get the job done. Nonetheless, some gifted students would like to take their talents to schools such as Cambridge or Oxford. Thus, to help as best we can in this process, we will be giving out a basic breakdown of how to apply to universities in the UK. The most important thing to be aware of when seeking to do so is that all applications to this part of the world require you to use UCAS. What such a platform represents is a standardized means available to all students wishing to further their studies in the UK. Whether you like it or not one cannot submit any documents, including the common application paper, without having gone through the system. The best thing to do is just go on the main page and check out the five stages of enrollment as well as the deadlines for whatever field of study you are interested in. One of the pluses is all the information needed to apply as well as the deadlines are easy to find and neatly organized. However, an issue can be the time zone difference as a number of procedures need to be completed before a specific time in the UK so be sure to have it sorted out in good time to avoid any possible unnecessary complications. Western Europe Most European countries, besides the UK, have a similar enrollment to the one at home regarding the college application essay requirements. Thus, the students will be required to present recommendations, a motivation letter as well as their previous academic grades. Nonetheless, one of the issues international American students face when usually applying to these institutions is EU citizens being heavily favored. Thus, it is vital the college application paper shine bright like a diamond. In such a case it is slightly more challenging to get it all sorted out because it is more time-consuming. Despite not being a top priority as an international student it can give one time to sort out all the legal documents. In such a scenario all students should have translated their official documents to match those of the country they wish to study in. This might involve also translating one’s college application essay sample if it is a language course especially. If it is an EEA country, then you will most likely also be required to take a number of written tests to determine one's placing or suitability. Australia Overall as an international destination, Australia has some of the most welcoming requirements for US students with an influential college application essay. In essence, the most challenging pick is finding out the entry requirements for the course as well as completing all the legal documents. Nonetheless, one cannot apply for a visa until they have received a written confirmation stating they have been accepted by the university and their college application essay is adequate. If you are doubtful about being able to impress the examiner do not hesitate to contact our college application essay writing service for more information. One of the most important things to have prepared is overseas health insurance as it is a different continent and sometimes this can create various sensibilities in the body. Since I am quite outgoing and friendly working with people comes naturally to me, despite the difficulties that sometimes occur whe n handling a company's human resources. Having completed the IB programme in 2012, I am quite comfortable with tight deadlines as well as approaching my work from a holistic perspective. With that in mind, it is quite apparent why this State University intrigued me. Luckily, we were given a presentation at my high school which inspired me to get more information online. The diversity of available courses as well as study groups is almost a bit overwhelming but extremely attractive at the same time. Similar to most students having experienced some form of lectures from a young age, it is entirely revitalizing to approach academia interactively. Take that and run with it. For example, Lululemon was founded on the  idea that working out together could also cultivate  community. According to their website, "Our vision for our store was to create more than a place where people could get gear to sweat in, we wanted to create a community hub where people could learn and discuss the physical aspects of healthy living, mindfulness and living a life of possibility." The idea was simple: Health and community to live a fuller life. That is their story. On their Instagram account, that same narrative continues to tells the story among all of their posts: It's almost instantly evident what they're about, and it's consistent across their entire page. In order to find your own narrative, ask yourself these three questions: What is the core idea behind your product? What do people love about your product? What would your audience miss about your business if you stopped tomorrow? These three questions will help shape your story. Combine your narrative with your goal, and now you have a strategy. To find success on Instagram, you need to find your narrative. Understand Which Post Types Work Best Now that you have an awesome strategy in place, it's time to decide what types of posts you want to share with your audience. Inspiration: Inspirational posts are really great for motivating your audience. Who doesn't need a good morning pick-me-up? Either or, culture posts are great for being transparent and honest with your audience. Show them who you really are! Let them share in your funny, office shenanigans behind the scenes. Product Posts:   While maybe the most obvious, product posts are one of the most essential Instagram types to use.  After all,  the ever-present goal is always to grow your business, right? Instagram is a great platform to show off how your products work, promote new stuff, and get people interested in what you have to offer. Event Photos: Attending a conference? Hosting an event? This allows business to visually show off their product, rather than just  tell; however, this also presents a challenge. How can you make your  business narrative seen through a consistent, visually appealing brand? Here are five key factors that will ensure your Instagram feed looks great and tells your story well. Build your brand on #Instagram the right way.The Bare Essentials While top-notch, expensive camera gear surely  has its benefits, it's definitely not required to have a great visual presence on Instagram. What you do need is a smartphone with a camera, and some good natural  light. Whether you're taking photos of people experiencing the benefits of your product outside, or you're taking photos of physical  products indoors, these two are essential  to get going. To watch how to post to Instagram on your iPhone check this video from Jana Williams. Natural Lighting Quality lighting for your photos can take them to the next level! The best lighting source is found outside, but there are also ways to capture this gorgeous light indoors. If you want to take your photo outside, the best time of day for lighting is called golden hour. This is the hour after sunrise or before sunset when the skies turn golden and make everything seem magical. Depending on where you live, taking photos at those times of day may not be ideal, so if you need to take photos in the middle of the day here are a couple of tips: 1.  Avoid direct, high-noon sun outside. In the middle of the day, the sun is directly above which can cast harsh shadows on your subject. Instead, we want evenly lit light to highlight your subject so to avoid the bright sun, find some shade. In the shade, your image will have even light, making for a wonderful photo. 2. Avoid dark, indoor spaces. While its common to have offices and buildings with  tiled, white fluorescent lighting in the ceiling, this is not ideal for your images because it will make them appear yellow. Instead, try finding a nearby window that has some room for your photo. This way, you'll capture the great natural lighting while still being inside. 3.   Use a reflector. If you can't go outside and you don't have any windows nearby, you can purchase a $20 reflector to help you bounce the available light. I personally use this for my photography, and it always comes in handy. Simply choose to either add more light with the silver or gold sides or take away light with the white, diffuser side. Tilt the reflector side-to-side as well as up-and-down until you see the desired light, and you're all set! Rule of Thirds When it comes to visuals, the layout of your subjects can also be optimized to create visual interest. Using the rule of thirds, you can ensure your image is balanced, natural, and professional.  The rule of thirds creates a 9-part grid providing four lines where your subject can  be placed. Recommended Reading: How To Create A Marketing Strategy That Will Skyrocket Your Results By 9,360% Choosing Your Filter One you've taken your image with great lighting, positioned with the rule of thirds, and have taken your image, its time to edit it! The first thing you'll want to do,is choose your filter. Filters are several different styles and editing presets that are ready to use. There are an extremely high number of filter options out there today from a variety of apps, including Instagram's 21 default filter options so be careful when you choose your filter. Ask yourself this: Does this filter reflect the mood of my business narrative? Does this filter draw attention to itself or does it enhance my subject in the photo? Is this filter consistent with my other imagery? Once you've chosen a filter or two that works best for your business, make sure to stick with that filter. While it's okay to experiment right away, too many different filters at once can disrupt the mood and emotion of your Instagram feed as a whole. When your audience goes to your account and sees nine images together, consistency needs to be evident in telling your story well. Find a couple of filters and stick to it. Brands on Instagram: use consistent filters to create a consistent look. Some Popular Instagram Tools From start to finish, there are apps and tools out there to help you get the best photo possible. Here's a grand list of some of my favorite photo tools from creation to hitting publish: VSCO: Use their camera grid to apply the rule of thirds, and utilize their hand-crafted filters for great color. Snapseed: Once you've taken your image, open it in Snapseed for several advanced editing tools and filters. Filterstorm Neue: While only available for iPhone,  the app has a diverse collection of customizable editing options. TouchRetouch: Need to edit out something? This app is perfect for detailed retouching! ProCamera: If you'd like more control of your iPhone camera, this app allows you the full functionality. While there are several more tools out there, these are the ones that have worked best for me and . Explore the different options, and see what works best for you. Every workflow is unique, so choose an app that matches your photo process best. Growing Your Audience And Engagement First of all, congrats! You've thoroughly developed your Instagram strategy, created some awesome Instagram posts, recorded your data, and now its time to optimize everything for the next level of audience engagement! At this point, you know what works well and you're ready to fine-tune everything to achieve your goals faster and better. There are eight  easy steps to optimizing your entire Instagram account from the descriptions and imagery, to tagging others and building a community. Here's how to grow your following on #Instagram: Write Perfect Post Captions Instagram is all about striking visuals. But, having the perfect caption can help give your images better context and make them more engaging. Follow these guidelines every time you write post copy: Using Hashtags Hashtags are really important to your Instagram posts because they allow others to find you that may not have heard of your product before. They let you reach a broader audience, and who doesn't want that? An easy way to find what hashtags are currently trending is to use Top-Hashtags.com.  They provide a nice, clear list with the highest rated hashtags and how many posts currently have that hashtag. It also lets you click on the hashtag to see examples of how others are using it! How many hashtags should you use? That's a great question. Instagram allows you to use up to 30 hashtags for each post, but its best practice to use 5-10 hashtags. While more hashtags often is better, is always important to remember to avoid being  spammy. You can find the perfect amount of hashtags to use by doing two things: Look at what other hashtags the influencers in your industry are using and how many. Test your own Instagram posts with a variety of hashtag amounts, and see what works best. Tag Industry Influencers In order to grow your community, look to the big influencers and see how you can involve them in your Instagram strategy. Not only can you learn from them, but you can easily share their quotes, products, and other resources within your own posts that align with your business' narrative. For example, we're big fans of Seth Godin and his mantras so we've  read a bunch  of his content. He has so many great takeaways, and we want to share that with our own audience, too. What's that one thing constantly on your mind that you've always wanted to do but just haven't taken the leap? Take your own images, design your own quote graphics, and still create something that matches your own business, but remember to give them credit. Tag them in your posts so that they see it, their audience might see it, and then watch your audience grow. Using Instagram locations are a simple extra way to allow your potential audience  to find you. Add a location to your Instagram posts to target local audiences.Optimize Your Link In Your Profile Instagram has a very minimal profile space to personalize the information to your business and its goals, so businesses must take advantage of what they're given. One of the best ways to do so, is by updating and modifying your link  for each Instagram post. While a best practice is to have your business or product website link there  on a long-term basis, feel free to customize that link with posts that direct your  audience to something more specific. Do you have a feature launch coming up? Was your business just featured on a reputable news source? Use those opportunities to post about it on Instagram, and directly link to it in your profile. Don't forget you can drive Instagram traffic with profile links. This allows your audience to avoid mis-typinganything, and gives instant access to precisely what you want them to see. Just remember to add "link in profile" to your Instagram post description, and then they'll know to hit the link in your profile. For example, recently announced our new podcast series, Actionable Content Marketing, and used Instagram to direct our audience to that specific page for easy accessibility: Create An  Instagram Engagement Pod InstaRevealed  recently launched the new idea of comment or pods so that users could connect more with their industry niche, while also growing each other's engagement. Once you sign up, you're placed into a 5-10 person direct message where you can send the heart icon every time you post. The heart alerts the group to check it out, like and comment, and boost your engagement. If you'd like to do this for your business, you can sign up on their website. Maybe you'd like an engagement comment pod, but with people and brands you know! Well, that's possible too. Make a list of the 5-10 key people you'd like to include in your group. Contact them, tell them what it's about, and let them accept your invitation. Then, simply create a direct message, and add your biggest fans, industry influencers, or  anyone else on your list. The next time you share an Instagram post, go to that direct message and choose the heart icon. Your engagement group will know exactly what to do, and suddenly you'll have great engagement and interaction on all of your posts. Of course, this engagement group is for their posts as well. Make sure to reciprocate the Instagram love by commenting and engaging with their content. By simply choosing to work as a supportive community, you'll also interact with all of their audience's. It's a win-win for everyone involved. Have you tried building an Instagram engagement pod?Post at the Best Times for Instagram Instagram is a mobile-focused app. And, since users are frequently on their phones, this means almost any time is a great time to share on the platform. But, are some times shown to be better than others? This graphic shows our findings: Now, your best times may vary from what research shows. Remember that data that you started collecting? This is where it comes into play. Analyze all of the times recorded in your note, as well as the engagement levels for that post to find the best time to post for your business. To do this, follow these three steps: First, in order to simplify your times, categorize them by hour. (i.e. All posts published within 9am, 10am, etc.) Then, tally how many posts you had within each hour. Now let's take a look at your engagement. Under the same hour categories, write down all of the engagement scores associated with that hour. Once that's complete,  add up the total engagement score for that hour. Next, divide it by amount of posts in that hour. You've now found your average engagement for posts published during that hour. You'll want to repeat this process for each of your hours, and then it will be loud and clear what time(s) work best for you! On one hand, you don't want to post so often that it looks spammy and turns away your followers, but on the other you want enough posts that continually build up for your Instagram community. According to Buffer, the top brands post about 1.5 times per day. So what does that mean for you? Let's test it. For each week that you recorded, count how many Instagram posts you've published. Then,  take your first day of the week's follower count and your last day of the week's follower count, and find the difference. Do this same process for every week that you've published content. Microbiology Work Essay Example | Topics and Well Written Essays - 1000 words

Microbiology Work - Essay Example They also contribute to patient’s treatment as well as the control of infection in the community and hospitals. However, Microbiology is rapidly changing. In the late 1970s, HIV and AIDS were unknown, but by the year 2000, approximately 22 million HIV related deaths had occurred globally. Ebola and Legionnaires viruses were also unknown, but a year later, they were making headlines. Microbiologists decided to go to the laboratory to find the virus behind AIDS and other diseases. The laboratory categorized the samples and dealt with each sections of the virus depending on the site and nature of collection. In this regard, this paper aims at explaining microbiology work in HIV, identifying the problems or issues that face scientists today as well as identify science influence or contribution to today’s culture in terms of technology, advances, and infectious disease controls (Gustavo, 2001). HIV/AIDS is said to have spread rapidly. There are roughly 33.4 million people li ving with the virus, 2 million deaths from and 2.7 new infections of AIDS. Microbiologists discovered that HIV virus causes AIDS (Acquired Immune Deficiency Syndrome). The virus is said to infect cells which are critical to the immune system, and as a result, destroy the ability of the system to fight infections. Therefore, it was found out that people who have AIDS do not have the ability to fight infections by other bacteria and viruses, which cause diseases in healthy people. Because of this, AIDS patients die from such infections that the scientists regard as harmless. Some of them develop cancers in their systems (Basic information about HIV and AIDS, 1999). The Microbiologists first discovered the agent which causes AIDS in 1983. In about 24 years, there were abnormal infection clusters that were found in homosexual men and approximately a million of Americans have contracted HIV. This epidemic has now afflicted both female and males in all ethnic groups. Spencer and Ragout (2 004) claim that, scientists acknowledge that the epidemic is growing rapidly among women and minority population. There are over 20 million deaths and the epidemic is spreading in all geographic regions. However, there is hope in finding the cure for AIDS because, Microbiologists are doing all they can to discover it. They have managed to stabilize it because of the ARVs that they initially discovered for its control which has helped in avoiding deaths. To add to this, they claim that when a person becomes infected with the HIV virus, there is a substantial lag time, for example, a decade before the person fully develops the AIDS symptoms, although the anti-HIV drugs can help delay the symptoms. However, afterwards, infected individuals start experiencing symptoms of Flu and are said to go for many years without the symptoms being detected (Basic information about HIV and AIDS, 1999). During this phase, the virus is said to continue replicating within the body, in addition to transm itting to other individuals if there is a direct contact with body fluids such as blood and semen. This time there is a steady but slow depletion of the cells, known as CD4 positive T cells which are infected by HIV. A Microbiologist found out that a normal person usually has 1000 CD4 Tcells in a blood milliliter, which HIV infects, and once the cells fall to 200 cells the person infected enters another phase which is now called AIDS.

Contemporary Issues in Marketing and Management Essay

Contemporary Issues in Marketing and Management - Essay Example Also, the SPIN framework is critiqued and analysed in order to provide information about how social media can be employed to help stakeholders in the film industry to maximise their offerings and activities in relation to the production and sale of films to the wider society and community. The Internet is the largest computer network in the world. It is a platform on which most computers can connect and get access to shared information from different parts of the world and this has created a unique and distinct marketplace for people to interact. This network has been utilised by various business and corporate entities in the world and there is the possibility of the film industry using it to achieve various forms of results in their marketing and promotion of affairs. To this end, it is important to analyse the concepts of social media and viral marketing. This is because they provide the basis for the analysis of the practical application and utilisation of the Internet for business purposes. â€Å"Social media refers to the use of web-based and mobile technology to communication into an interactive dialogue† (Evans, 2012; p62). Ways in which Arthur Miller creates tension in the first act Essay Example for Free

Ways in which Arthur Miller creates tension in the first act Essay In this essay I am going to explore the ways in which the writer, Arthur Miller, creates tension in the first act of The Crucible. Some of the techniques he uses, and I am going to analyse are: pace, fear of witchcraft, disagreements, and the relationships between the characters. The play includes moments in which the pace is slow, this provides a contrast to the moments of climax, when the pace quickens. As there is a change in pace which the readers and viewers cant expect, the tension increases. For example, the scene in which a psalm is gently sung when, suddenly, Betty starts screaming. The play begins steadily and calmly, no tension is thought to be created. The upper bedroom in the home of Reverend Samuel Parris is slowly described, it gives the impression of being a peaceful place. There is a narrow window at the left. Through its leaded panes the morning sunlight streams. A candle still burns near the bed, which is at the right. Some characters introductions and speeches also make the action go slower. Some examples are the introduction of Reverend John Hale Mr Hale is nearing forty, a tight-skinned, eager-eyed intellectual. and the experienced, comforting speech of Rebecca Nurse when Mr Putnam asks her to see if she can wake up his daughter: I think shell wake in time. Pray calm yourselves. I have eleven children, and I am twenty-six times a grandma, and I have seen them all through their silly seasons ( ) These slow scenes give extra emphasis to the parts in which the speed of the scene increases by the things that happen or people say. Any important exclamation in any dialogue or threats to other characters can make the pace change in this way. Some examples are: Abigail Williams threatens Mercy and Betty to be quiet about what really happened the night on the forest.

Career Opportunities For Recipients Of Degrees In Mathematics :: Argumentative Persuasive Papers

The Many Career Opportunities For Recipients Of Degrees In Mathematics I have chosen to do Possibility 7. It states that once a person decides to study mathematics they are limited to the possible fields of work that is available to them. According to this statement the only possible jobs are teaching jobs at the school, college, and university levels. It also talks about how this can be dull to some and how a person can't become a millionaire this way. I am in total opposition of this statement. I believe that if a person studies mathematics they have a world of options open to them. By no means does studying mathematics limit a person to the teaching profession alone. Mathematics majors are in demand in the work force. The jobs are out there if the perspective workers have good job search skills, which are essential. The teaching profession alone offers an assortment of different levels of teaching. One could teach at the elementary, middle school, high school, college, and university levels. There are also teacher's aids, research assistants, and student teachers, as well as substitute teachers. The demand for teachers is elevating at an alarming rate. This goes for teachers in general, but especially for teachers interested in teaching in the mathematics or science fields. Besides being a teacher, who technically is a mathematician, there is also the obvious profession of being a mathematician without being a teacher. There are also opportunities such as becoming an engineer, a research scientist, or a manager of a business. Mathematics majors work for such companies as IBM, AT&T Bell Labs, American Airlines, FedEx, L. L. Bean, and Perdue Farms Inc to name a few.(Source III) There are also mathematicians employed in such government agencies as The Bureau of the Census, Department of Agriculture, and NASA Goddard Space Center.(Sources III and IV) Mathematicians are needed in the fields of law and medicine as well as in the arts, such as sculpting, music, and television. The possibilities are seemingly endless. When you think about it, almost every job involves mathematics. It is true that not every job opening could be properly satisfied by a person who majored in mathematics, but for the most part that person would have an advantage over other applicants because of their knowledge in mathematics. I believe that a strong background in mathematics is an asset to a person looking into just about any field of work.

Without Love Life is Meaningless

What is Love? Love is a feeling of strong or constant affection for a person, attraction that includes sexual desire, it is the strong affection felt by people who have a romantic relationship. Love is also an object of attachment, devotion or admiration of something. Poets and authors have tried to define love for centuries, now even scientists want to discover the human mechanics of what makes us love. Many of us know intuitively that love is a major purpose for living; that connection is inherent in all that we do, and without love, we cannot survive as a species. We all have our own pinions, thoughts, and perspective of what love actually is. Love is defined in many ways. We have all experienced love at least once to have a concept of what love means. Besides the fact if we have been heartbroken. Some might say love is when you're in a relationship with a significant other by committing to monogamy, sex, attraction, trust, and respect and caring for your loved one. Others know of the unconditional love for one's child, the love for sports is rooting for your favorite team and player, the love of art; there are many aspects of love.In the novel â€Å"The History f Love† by Nicole Krauss, Leo suffers misfortune and betrayal, but the novel he writes in order to survive is written not out of despair but out of love. Explain what Jean-Paul Sartre meant by the statement “Man is condemned to be free”. Essay

Jean-Paul Sartre was a French existentialist philosopher and was one of the leading figures in 20th century French philosophy. His major philosophical work, â€Å"Being and Nothingness† and his famous talk, â€Å"Existentialism is a Humanism†, is where he emphasised the statement â€Å"Man is condemned to be free†. The statement appears to be a juxtaposition of language because ‘freedom’ often has positive connotations while ‘condemned’ provides the opposite feeling. Sartre used the term ‘condemned’ as he believed we have no choice in the matter of being free, and being free (even if against our will) means we are responsible for all our actions. Being responsible for our actions – without having a choice about being free to choose – is a form of condemnation. Us having to accept full responsibility for our actions includes us not being able to blame those around us – such as family, teachers and the gov ernment – for our situation. In summary, man is condemned because â€Å"he did not create himself, yet is nevertheless at liberty, and from the moment that he is thrown into this world he is responsible for everything he does† (Kaufmann). In the face of this responsibility, many humans turn to religion. This allows us to feel answerable to a higher being. However, Sartre was not a believer in God; this could be because of the atrocities he witnessed first-hand during the Second World War while serving in the French army. His experiences taught him that â€Å"God is silent in the face of absurdity and horror. Because of this we are condemned to face life alone and with this comes absolute freedom and the chilling responsibility that comes with it.† If God truly doesn’t exist then our actions aren’t really limited by His prophecies, commandments and morals; God cannot legitimise our behaviour, or justify it, or cause it. We are ultimately responsible for our actions with no one to answe r because we have chosen them on our own, out of our freedom. Traditionally, freedom is seen as ‘good’. Sartre on the other hand describes freedom to be a kind of  burden because as God does not exist we are â€Å"without excuse† and we â€Å"can’t find anything to depend on†. Sartre illustrates his belief using the example of the paper cutter. When considering a paper cutter, we would assume that the creator had a plan (an essence) for it. Due to there being no creator of humans, we have no essence. This means that our actions and behaviour cannot be explained by referencing human nature, instead we are necessarily fully responsible for our actions. The essence or nature of a paper cutter is to cut paper; this is the purpose the maker of it had in mind. However, there was no maker or creator of human beings so we can’t refer to what we are meant to do. There is only what we choose to do. â€Å"We are left alone, without excuse.† To decide whether we are or are not â€Å"condemned to be free† it makes sense to decide whether our actions are truly free or if they may in fact be determined. Psychologists such as Sigmund Freud believe our early years have an impact on our future actions. Freud claimed that our moral actions are often caused by repressed or subconscious memories or feelings stemming from childhood. Also, B.F. Skinner said that we cannot be held morally responsible for behaviour determined by our psychological makeup because we could not have chosen to behave differently. Other thinkers, including Thomas Sowell, argue that our actions are in line with our social conditioning. We then follow a sociologically determined path set by our upbringing, education and social groups etc. Libertarianism has the major flaw of not taking into account our experiences when making decisions and when forming our morality. For instance, it is arguable that Sartre believed what he did because of the experiences he had during the war, not because of his freedom. Another valid argument is that genetics determine physical and behavioural aspects of humanity. All of these viewpoints state that humans are not free to choose and our lives and personalities are already determined (by our past experiences, psychological makeup, socialisation and genetics). There is truth in these theories and so they take credit away from Sartre’s belief that â€Å"man is condemned to be free† because they show that there are aspects of our lives where we aren’t free to choose. This means, in addition, that our responsibility is lessened somewhat as some of our actions are already determined for us. On the other hand, Sartre’s ideas are potentially credible. We have all had experiences where the need to choose between multiple actions has caused us emotional turmoil. It is  unlikely that in these s ituations we can avoid having to come to a decision. Although we are free to make this choice, we are in a way forced to make it. So, Sartre’s claim of humans being condemned or damned to be free does not appear so ludicrous. Even when we ask someone for assistance with an ethical dilemma it is not their answer that determines our solution and consequent action. It is our choice to ask them in the first place and usually we already know what they are going to say; we then decide whether to follow their advice. This again shows the extent of our freedom of choice and the lack of determining factors to suppress this ‘condemning’ freedom. In conclusion, Sartre examined the daunting nature of decision making and unlimited freedom. The moral responsibility we have in the case of absolute freedom is crippling and causes great despair. However, this approach could be incorrect because there are aspects of our lives and makeup that influence our behaviour. If an action is determined by factors outside our control, we may no t have the moral responsibility for it. From this viewpoint we are not condemned to freedom but it instead allows us some input into our behaviour and therefore our lives.

OUTSOURCING OF AMERICAN JOBS essays

OUTSOURCING OF AMERICAN JOBS essays In this paper, my main aim is to describe the impact of the outsourcing of American jobs to overseas. Addressing this issue is especially critically, because there are almost two schools of thought: one that believes on the usefulness and benefits of the outsourcing and the other that vehemently oppose outsourcing and focus on its negativity. For example, several policy makers and government agencies believe that outsourcing may reduce the cost of the manufacturing of products and provide services at cheaper prices, however, other believe that outsourcing has contributed massive lay-offs of American workers from their jobs. In reality, both of the views are partially correct, because outsourcing of jobs may have both positive and negative effects on our economy and society. Therefore, one needs to focus on both sides. For example, countless activities such as transcription of medical records, completion of tax forms, and software programming, when done overseas provide the advantages of completive priced products and services (Goldsmith, 2003). Besides when these basic activities are being done overseas, they provide the companies to focus on their core competencies. In addition, outsourcing of mundane and routine activities overseas allows companies to innovate and bring new products and services quickly. The other positive effects of outsourcing can be seen at a global level. By outsourcing several jobs in developing countries and third-world countries, the developed country like America provides people around the globe employment and wages. Also, many of the products and services that are no longer considered critical in American markets can be sold at third world However, all of the effects of the outsourcing have not been the positive. The outsourcing of the jobs has created unemployment in home. People's purchasing power is decreasing and common mass i ...

9 Signs Your Boss Secretly Hates Everything About You

9 Signs Your Boss Secretly Hates Everything About You Everybody wants to be liked- especially by their boss. Your job can go from wonderful to awful based on your relationship with your boss. If you feel yours is lacking- or something is just plain off- then you might want to think about whether any of these signs apply.  Whatever discord there is might just be in your head, but just in case, see if you recognize any signs. If you do, maybe it’s time to have a chat with him/or or HR. 1. You feel it in your gut.Don’t discount your own intuition! If you just feel like your boss hates you, it might be true. Don’t rely on this sign only, but it’s not one to be discarded lightly.2. You’re never asked for input. And you’re left out of key decision processes. It’s almost as if you don’t exist.3. There’s no eye contact. You can tell a lot from your boss’s body language and eye contact. If you’re being avoided, you’ll be able to tell physically. Almost as if it p ains them to look you directly in the eyes- let alone smile or laugh!4. You are getting micromanaged.You- and only you- are being hovered over. If your boss is just a micromanager in general, that’s one thing. But if it’s only in your direction, this could be a sign that you just aren’t trusted.5. You’re avoided.Your boss seems to go out of his way to dodge you in the corridors or elevators. He communicates with you only over email- even when your office is right next door. And when he does come close enough to you- say you show up at his  office door- he doesn’t acknowledge your presence. There’s no exchange of good morning/evening pleasantries either- you aren’t included in any jokes or banter.6.  There’s a sense of snippiness. You get monosyllabic answers to genial questions. Emails are not opened with a friendly salutation or a well-meaning sign off. Basically, your boss is acting like a teenager. This is not a great sig n. Does your boss make small talk about personal things with your other coworkers but not you? Also not a great sign.7. You don’t get enough feedback. Some managers are just terrible at giving feedback- especially positive feedback. If you get negative feedback, it’s usually super public. But if you find you’re getting no feedback, while your co-workers are getting constructive criticism and pats on the back, then you have a problem.8. The door is always closed. There’s nothing like looking at a closed door to make you feel like you’re not welcome. Whether it’s to your boss’s office, or to a big important meeting that you can’t seem to get invited to†¦ you might be out in the cold.9. You get all the worst jobs. You keep getting assigned tasks that are way beneath your level and your pay grade- just busywork that offers no challenge. And no matter how well you accomplish each task, you’re not moving forward. In fact, yo u seem to be moving backward.

Profile of al-Qa'ida and Analysis of U.S. Homeland Security Domestic Term Paper

Profile of al-Qa'ida and Analysis of U.S. Homeland Security Domestic Policy - Term Paper Example However, by the end of this war in 1988, bin Laden, his instructor Dr. Abdullah al-Azzam (who also participated in the war) and their companions started contemplating about the Islamic militancy association that had formed during the war. This is where Al-Qa’ida originated, which became explicit in its anti-US approach when the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia wanted to give space to US troops to monitor the Iraq-Kuwait war (Kenneth Katzman, 2005). Another view is a slightly different version of the above, where Al-Qa’ida is said to have originated by Azzam as â€Å"al-qaeda al-sulbah (a vanguard of the strong)†. It was much later in 1998 when bin Laden and his associated were linked to US bombings that they formed Al-Qa’ida (Burke, 2004). This paper will focus on the events that followed the formulation of al-Qa’ida and the enmity between the West and this Islamic organization, which caused the great security syndrome. The latter part of this paper focuses on the security measures inside US homeland and an assessment that whether the policies are capable of shedding off the security threats posed to the nation, or not. Whatever the real story behind the emergence of al-Qa’ida may be, there is no doubt that it is an Islamic organization (not necessarily a terrorists’ network) that is at a strong oppositional position against the United States, and has been considered a major threat to US homeland for a long time, most explicitly since the World Trade Center attacks of September 11, 2001. Al-Qa’ida does not work as an open militant force nor does any publicity that could contain its ideology or manifesto. However, its ideology and objectives are evident from most of the statements released by the group members, top leaders or Osama bin Laden himself. Since the beginning, it has been clear that al-Qa’ida is an anti-US group with explicit statements of opposition.
